Four Killed In Head-On Collision On R23 Between Volksrust And Perdekop

Four people have died following a head-on collision between a sedan and a truck on the R23 highway between Volksrust and Perdekop in Mpumalanga.

The crash occurred on Friday night and involved multiple occupants in the sedan. Authorities confirmed that four people were declared dead at the scene.

Several Injured and Taken to Hospital

Four other occupants of the sedan — including the driver and three passengers — sustained injuries ranging from slight to serious.

The truck driver suffered minor injuries. All injured individuals were transported to a hospital in Standerton for medical treatment.

Investigation Underway Into Cause of Collision

Mpumalanga Community Safety spokesperson Moeti Mmusi said investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.

Mmusi indicated that reckless or negligent driving could have contributed to the collision, although this has not yet been confirmed.

Authorities are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
