Four Killed And One Critically Injured In Suspected Gang Shooting In Grassy Park

Four men have been shot dead and a fifth left fighting for his life following a suspected gang-related attack in Grassy Park, Cape Town.

The deadly shooting unfolded late on Thursday night, triggering a heightened police response in the area. Detectives attached to the Anti-Gang Unit have launched a manhunt for those responsible.

Police said the victims were targeted while gathered outside a residential block of flats in Lotus River.

Grassy Park Shooting Leaves Four Dead And One Injured

The Grassy Park shooting happened at about 22:30 on the corner of Nita and Olga streets in Lotus River.

According to Western Cape police spokesperson Novela Potelwa, five men were sitting outside the flats when a vehicle carrying several occupants arrived at the scene.

“Police reports indicate that five men were sitting in front of a residential block of flats at approximately 22:30 on the corner of Nita and Olga streets in Lotus River when a vehicle with several occupants emerged.

“The occupants alighted from the vehicle and fired shots in the direction of the victims. Four men between the ages of 32 and 44 died on the scene, and another was taken to a medical facility with serious injuries,” Potelwa said.

Anti-Gang Unit Investigates Suspected Gang-Related Attack

Police have increased deployments in the area following the Grassy Park shooting to prevent any further violence.

Potelwa said preliminary findings suggest the attack may be linked to gang activity, although investigations are still at an early stage.

“Grassy Park police have opened murder and attempted murder dockets for investigation. Preliminary investigations indicate the motive for the shooting incident is gang-related. Anti-Gang Unit detectives are hard at work in search of the perpetrators, with no arrests effected yet.”

Authorities have confirmed that no suspects have been arrested and investigations remain ongoing.

Cape Town Shooting Claims Three Lives In Khayelitsha

In a separate incident, police are probing a triple murder after two men and a woman were shot dead in Khayelitsha on Saturday evening.

Provincial police spokesperson André Traut said officers responded to reports of a shooting at a house on Pama Road in Site B.

When police arrived, they found the bodies of the three victims, all of whom had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. They were declared dead at the scene.

“Preliminary information suggests unknown suspects approached the victims and opened fire before fleeing the area.

“Police have reinforced their presence in the area to maintain stability, prevent any further violence, and reassure the community while investigators pursue all available leads,” Traut added.

Police are continuing their investigations into both shooting incidents.VB
