Four Family Members Killed In New Year’s Eve Shooting At Port Shepstone, KZN

Police in KwaZulu-Natal are investigating a quadruple murder following a brutal home invasion in the Mdweshule area, within the Mehlomnyama policing precinct, near Port Shepstone.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night, 31 December 2025, when four unknown men allegedly forced their way into a family homestead.

According to a witness, the suspects kicked open the door of a rondavel where she was inside with her fiancé.

Money Demanded From Family Before Gunmen Open Fire

“Three of the men were carrying firearms and the other one was carrying a bush knife, the suspects started demanding money and when they were told that there was no money, they began firing shots.”

The witness said her 45-year-old fiancé was shot and killed at the scene.

After the shooting, the suspects allegedly ordered her to take them to other family members on the property.

Mother and Two Daughters Gunned Down Before Suspects Flee

He said the attackers killed more family members after failing to get what they wanted.

“When the suspects got to the main house, they shot and killed a mother and her two daughters and fled the scene with two cellphones.”

The three victims in the main house were a mother and her two daughters, aged between 31 and 67 years old.

The suspects fled the scene and remain at large.

Police have launched a manhunt as investigations continue.
