Former SAPS Officer Arrested In Kraaifontein Search And Seizure Operation

A former police officer has been taken into custody following a search and seizure operation in Kraaifontein on Wednesday. The operation was carried out after officers received information about firearms being stored at several locations in the area.

Firearms and Police Items Confiscated

According to police spokesperson Frederick van Wyk, five premises were searched. At one of the addresses, the ex-officer—previously stationed at Delft SAPS—was arrested.

“At the premises, several firearm magazines, an assortment of ammunition, two firearms without serial numbers, one SAPS name badge, one SAPS appointment card, and a cellular telephone were found and confiscated,” van Wyk confirmed.

The suspect, an adult male, was arrested and detained at Kraaifontein SAPS. Police confirmed that he will appear in the Kuilsrivier Magistrate’s Court once formally charged.
