Former Minister Naledi Pandor Robbed At Gauteng Home As Police Launch Manhunt

Former international relations minister and chancellor of Nelson Mandela University, Naledi Pandor, was the victim of a house robbery at her Gauteng residence on Friday night.

The incident reportedly took place at her home in Valleria at about 9pm. According to police, three armed suspects forced their way into the property before confronting the former minister and her husband during the robbery.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed to SurgeZirc SA that the suspects entered the bedroom where Dr Pandor was confronted. Another suspect allegedly held her husband inside the bathroom while the house was searched.

Authorities said several household items were taken during the robbery. Stolen property included televisions, mobile phones and a laptop.

The suspects also fled the scene in the family’s Toyota Cross after ransacking the property. Police later recovered the vehicle in Mamelodi East.

“Several items were stolen, including televisions, a laptop, and mobile phones. before the suspects fled the scene in the family’s Toyota Cross. “The vehicle was later recovered in Mamelodi East. No injuries were reported, and investigations are continuing,” Mathe said.

No injuries were reported during the incident. Police investigations into the robbery are ongoing.

The South African Police Service has launched a manhunt for the suspects linked to the robbery. Officers are continuing with investigations as efforts intensify to identify and arrest those responsible.

“Police are working around the clock to trace and apprehend those responsible. The District Commissioner of Tshwane, Major General Samuel Thine, will visit the family to provide an update on the progress of investigations.”
