Foreign Nationals Arrested, Adidas Shoes Recovered After Gauteng Truck Hijacking

Two foreign nationals, aged 32 and 50, were apprehended for their involvement in a truck hijacking incident that occurred in Gauteng.

The provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, revealed that the men will face the Musina Magistrate’s Court on charges related to the possession of suspected stolen property. Authorities intercepted the hijacked delivery truck in Limpopo, leading to their arrest.

Details of the Recovery Operation

During the police operation, law enforcement officials, in collaboration with a logistics company, pursued intelligence reports regarding a truck filled with Adidas shoes worth millions.

This hijacking incident took place in Putfontein, Gauteng, in September 2024. On Friday afternoon, investigators conducted a search at a wholesale supermarket located in Musina, resulting in the recovery of 85 pairs of shoes, valued at R60,000.

The suspects were caught at the scene and were unable to provide satisfactory explanations regarding their possession of these items.

Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Themba Hadebe, expressed gratitude for the swift actions taken by law enforcement agencies. She commended the coordinated efforts that led to the successful arrest of the two men.
