WATCH VIDEO! FlySafair Probes ‘Rowdy’ EFF Plane Protest As Malema Faces Court

FlySafair has confirmed it is investigating an incident involving Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supporters who were filmed chanting and singing aboard one of its flights to East London. The video, which circulated widely on social media, shows passengers seated while a group dressed in the party’s trademark red outfits and berets move down the aisle, clapping and dancing.

The supporters were travelling to attend the court appearance of EFF leader Julius Malema, who is facing sentencing related to unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, discharging a firearm in a public space, and reckless endangerment.

Public reaction has been divided. Some viewers praised the display of political solidarity, while others criticised the behaviour as disruptive and inconsiderate to fellow passengers, prompting calls for the airline to respond.

Airline Emphasises Safety Rules and Passenger Conduct

In response, FlySafair acknowledged the incident and said it is assessing whether any onboard safety regulations were breached. The airline stressed that passenger wellbeing remains a priority.

“We take passenger safety very seriously. The incident you’re referring to is currently under investigation to establish exactly what happened on board.

“FlySafair has strict policies in place to ensure all passengers travel safely and respectfully, and if it’s found that any of these were breached, appropriate action will be taken. We appreciate your patience while this review is completed.”

The airline did not indicate when the investigation would be finalised.

EFF Supporters Rally Outside Court as Malema Defends His Stance

Meanwhile, hundreds of EFF supporters gathered outside the East London Regional Court and later the High Court, singing and chanting in a strong show of support for their leader. Police and security personnel were present to maintain order as the crowd voiced claims that Malema was being targeted for his political views.

Supporters repeated the message that “if they jail him, they must jail us all”.

After his court appearance, Malema told supporters he was not intimidated by the possibility of imprisonment.

“We are attacked because we are the only black authority; we are the only black authority that speaks, and other people listen. They do not listen to anyone except the EFF.

“The white people who brought us to this court, it is because they do not like being challenged when you challenge them; they want to use you as an example.

“I have been an example for [much of] my life, and I will be an example even in my grave. I will never retreat, I will never surrender to white supremacy.”
