A red Ferrari F8 Spider was clocked at a staggering 208km/h in a 120km/h zone on the KZN south coast. Officers from the Park Rynie Road Traffic Inspectorate intercepted and arrested the driver during the #NenzaniLaEzweni operation.

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport confirmed that the motorist, Amir Abbas Bighash, was taken into custody.

  • Failing to display a licence disc

In addition, he had an outstanding warrant of arrest. He paid R5,100 related to the warrant and R3,000 bail.

He is expected to reappear in court with his attorney on 16 March.

MEC: “Nobody is above the law”

Provincial Transport MEC Siboniso Duma welcomed the arrest, saying traffic enforcement applies to everyone, regardless of status.

“To demonstrate that nobody is above the law, we continue to arrest lawyers, police, SANDF soldiers, bodyguards, teachers, engineers, accountants, truck drivers, taxi drivers, nurses, pastors, correctional services officers, social workers, mall managers, drivers of mayors, deputy mayors, speakers, pet controllers, security guards, and many other professionals,” Duma said.
