Five Family Members Shot Dead In Eastern Cape

In a shocking incident that has sent ripples of grief through the community of Bityi, near Port St Johns, five family members have lost their lives to senseless violence.
The Eastern Cape police are now engaged in an extensive manhunt for the perpetrators responsible for this heinous act. Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene, has mobilized all available resources in the pursuit of justice.

Details of the Incident
According to preliminary reports, the tragic event unfolded when two men entered a rondavel where a husband and wife were sleeping, brutally shooting them while they were defenceless.
Following this tragic encounter, the gunmen proceeded to another residence within the same yard, targeting three additional family members and causing further heartbreak.
Among the survivors are two children, who bravely managed to escape and raise the alarm. As stated by police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa, the injured children were transported to a nearby hospital for immediate care.

Community Response and Ongoing Investigations
The Eastern Cape community is reeling from this violence, reflecting on a similar mass shooting that occurred the previous month in Ngobozana village.
The police have already made several arrests, including a parolee linked to the prior incidents. Lieutenant General Mene condemned the violence firmly and has deployed a specialized team dedicated to tracking down those responsible for this family’s murder.
