Five Arrested In Connection With Kidnapping, Murder Of Hasani Daniel Maluleka

Five suspects linked to the kidnapping, robbery, and subsequent murder of Hasani Daniel Maluleka, 62, from Wilkoppies, in the North West, were arrested by the police and have been formally charged.

The arrested suspects, identified as Julia Kolobi (47), Mcdonald Tsolo (39), Bongani Rampai (43), Thabo Motlatsi (50), and Kagiso Wageng (37), appeared in the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, facing multiple serious charges, including kidnapping, house robbery, and murder.

The arrested accused will remain in custody until their next court appearance on Wednesday, April 30, for legal representation and a bail application.

Details

The investigation into the disappearance of Hasani Daniel Maluleka began after his former girlfriend reported that she was unable to reach him by phone on Friday, April 11, 2025.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Maluleka’s Mercedes Benz and Toyota Hilux were missing, and his home had been looted.

Furthermore, a significant sum of money had been withdrawn from his bank account, raising suspicions of foul play.

The police investigation led to a breakthrough when Julia Kolobi was arrested at Extension 10 in Jouberton Location on Sunday, April 13, 2025.

The remaining four suspects were arrested in Sebokeng Location (Gauteng Province) and Kanana Location, near Orkney, between April 19 and 20.

During the arrests, police confiscated several vehicles, including a Volkswagen Tiguan and Golf, believed to be used in the crimes.

Suspects Led Police To Maluleka’s Body

As a result of the suspects’ cooperation, authorities were able to locate Maluleka’s body at Schoonspruit River near Orkney on Monday morning, April 21, 2025.

The recovery was carried out by North West Police Divers, who retrieved the victim’s remains from the river.

In addition to the body, investigators recovered the victim’s vehicle keys, a laptop, and an unlicensed 9mm firearm with ammunition.

One of Maluleka’s vehicles, the Mercedes Benz, was also found in Evaton Location.
