Five Arrested After Brutal Murder Of Two Women In Orange Farm

Gauteng police have arrested five suspects in connection with the alleged hijacking, kidnapping and murder of two women, both aged 25, whose bodies were later discovered in Orange Farm.

The victims were reported missing on New Year’s Eve after they were last seen at Pooe’s sports ground in Evaton. According to police, a ransom demand was later made to the mother of one of the women.

Men Arrested Bodies Found in Open Veld Near Orange Farm

The search came to a tragic end when the women’s bodies were found on 8 January in an open veld at a plot in Poortjie, near Orange Farm.

Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said investigators made a breakthrough through intelligence-led operations.

“Through intelligence information, the team of investigators managed to trace and arrest five suspects and recover an unlicensed firearm on Tuesday 13 January. Four of the suspects were arrested in Evaton, while the fifth one was arrested in Germiston,” said Nevhuhulwi.

Victims’ Car Found With Fake Plates

A preliminary investigation led police to Brits, where officers discovered the victims’ vehicle abandoned at a car wash.

“The vehicle was fixed with false number plates but had the correct disc,” Nevhuhulwi said.

The unlicensed firearm recovered during the arrests will be sent for ballistic testing to determine whether it was used in the murders.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
