A South Africa military plane has crash-landed at an airport in Goma, in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, the Reuters news agency quotes a UN spokesperson.

A freelance journalist backed up the report by tweeting photos taken at the scene of the crash landing at the international airport in Goma in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

The journalist confirmed it was a South African-registered Antonov that belongs to the UN mission in DR Congo that crash-landed.
