Fire Breaks Out On Skeem Saam Set – Crew Members Injured!

Chaos erupted on the set of SABC 1’s most-loved drama, Skeem Saam, after a fire broke out during filming at Sasani Studios in Johannesburg on Saturday, 22 February. The incident left the cast and crew shaken, with two crew members suffering minor injuries.

According to the show’s publicist, Sumaya Magola, one of the injured crew members was rushed to hospital for treatment and is currently recovering.

“I have been made aware of the fire. I can confirm that it is unfortunately true,” said Magola.
“My colleague immediately got medical attention in hospital and is recovering very well.”

Fire Contained, But Skeem Saam Set Damaged

Magola also confirmed that while the fire was contained, it caused significant damage to part of the set.

“Of course, it has definitely affected our team. A fire causes major damage and is a terrifying thing to experience. We are glad it was contained,” she added.

Despite the shocking incident, Magola reassured loyal Skeem Saam fans that the show will continue as planned.

“We would like to say to them not to be troubled by the news. The worst is over, and we will continue to tell their favourite stories.”

City of Johannesburg EMS Confirms Investigation

City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services spokesperson, Robert Molaudzi, confirmed that emergency services responded to the fire.

“Two people were treated for smoke inhalation and minor injuries on the scene by paramedics. The fire was contained to one area or room, and its cause is still a subject of investigation,” said Molaudzi.

Mzansi fans have since taken to social media to express their concern for the safety of the cast and crew while awaiting further updates on the extent of the damage.
