Ficksburg Man Arrested For Raping 3-Year-Old Boy Left In His Care

The Ficksburg Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit has arrested a 34-year-old man from Ionia Farm for the alleged rape of a 3-year-old boy.

The incident reportedly occurred after the child’s mother left him with her boyfriend. She had entrusted the suspect with the toddler’s care while she attended a funeral at a nearby farm between 3 and 4 October 2025.

Upon the mother’s return, the child shocked her by reporting that the boyfriend had sexually assaulted him. The mother immediately alerted the police, triggering a swift response from authorities.

Ficksburg: Rape Allegation Prompts Swift Police Action and Medical Examination

Following the mother’s report, police acted quickly. The child was taken to hospital for a medical examination to gather forensic evidence. The FCS Unit subsequently located and arrested the suspect based on the initial allegation.

The suspect remains in custody and is expected to make his first court appearance today, 6 October 2025.

The 34-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear before the Ficksburg Magistrate’s Court today. He will formally face a charge of rape.
