Mpumalanga Father Arrested For Alleged Murder Of 17-Month-Old Daughter

A 22-year-old father was arrested in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, on Wednesday for the alleged murder of his 17-month-old daughter. He is set to appear in the Ermelo Magistrates’ Court on Thursday to face charges related to the toddler’s death.
Suspicious Circumstances
The incident unfolded on December 30, 2024, when the father brought the unresponsive child to a hospital in the early hours of the morning, claiming she had fallen off a bed.
Upon examination, medical staff determined the toddler had already passed away. Disturbingly, the child exhibited multiple bruises across her body and signs of strangulation, raising immediate concerns.

Hospital Staff Alert Authorities
The suspicious nature of the injuries prompted hospital staff to notify the police. The father was subsequently arrested later that day on an unrelated matter and has remained in custody since.
The accused is expected to make his first court appearance in connection with the murder charges on Thursday. Authorities are continuing investigations into the case.
