Fatal Shooting Of 6 In Umlazi: Police Seek Public Assistance

KwaZulu-Natal police are appealing for the public help after a tragic shooting left six men dead in Umlazi, Durban.

The incident occurred on the night of 17 August 2024 at Thabo Morena Street, behind Tehuis Hostel.

Despite multiple leads, the perpetrators remain unidentified, and authorities are offering a reward of up to R60,000 for any information that could lead to an arrest and conviction.
The Deadly Attack
Reports indicate that the victims were sitting together on the street when two unknown suspects approached them and asked for cigarettes.
Initially, the assailants left the scene but returned shortly after.
They instructed the group of men to lie down before opening fire on them.

Tragically, all six men were killed by the gunshots, while three women present at the scene managed to escape unharmed.

The suspects fled the scene on foot, and the attack, occurring at night, left no clear descriptions of the assailants.
Authorities are working tirelessly to track down the killers, but so far, their efforts have been unsuccessful.
The victims have been identified as Innocent Mazeka (25), Khaliphile Ntombela (37), Yamukela Mzekeli (29), Mlungisi Langa (40), Sinqobile Ngcobo (30), and Dumisani Mgoza (39).
A Reward for Information
Detective Sergeant Jila, who is handling the case, is urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.

The police believe that even the smallest detail could be the key to solving this horrific crime.
