Fannie Masemola Tender Case Postponed To May Amid R360 Million Investigation

Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola briefly appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday as proceedings in a high-profile tender case were delayed.

The matter, which centres on a lucrative police health services contract, has been postponed to May 13. Masemola is expected to return to court alongside businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and 12 police officers implicated in the case.

All accused individuals are expected to appear together at the next hearing as the state continues preparations to advance the matter.

Court Delays In High-Profile Police Tender Case

The case relates to a R360 million police health tender awarded to Matlala in 2024. Authorities allege irregularities in how the contract was handled, drawing in senior officials and multiple law enforcement members.

Masemola faces charges linked to alleged violations of the Public Finance Management Act. His brief court appearance did not involve detailed arguments, with proceedings largely focused on scheduling.

The 12 police officers named as co-accused face a range of serious charges, including fraud, money laundering, and contraventions of financial legislation.

All have been granted bail, with amounts set between R40,000 and R80,000.
