Fannie Masemola Hit With Arrest Warrant In R360m Tender Scandal

National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola is set to appear in court on 21 April after a warrant of arrest was issued to secure his attendance.

The move is linked to the controversial Medicare24 police contract, which has come under intense scrutiny in recent weeks. Authorities have confirmed that Masemola will face criminal charges tied to the deal, marking a dramatic turn in the unfolding corruption investigation.

R360 Million Deal at Centre of Fannie Masemola Corruption Charges

Masemola is expected to be charged in connection with a R360-million health services tender allegedly linked to businessman Vusimusi “Cat” Matlala.

The case centres on claims that the top cop may have violated provisions of the Public Finance Management Act in relation to the awarding of the contract.

The warrant was served on Wednesday to ensure his court appearance, as investigators tighten the net around senior figures implicated in the deal.

More Arrests Loom as Anti-Corruption Crackdown Intensifies

The developments come shortly after the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption arrested 12 senior police officials alongside Matlala on Tuesday.

Those arrested are facing serious charges, including fraud, corruption and money laundering, signalling a widening probe that could see more high-ranking officers taken into custody in the coming days.
