Family Friend Arrested For Impregnating 14-Year-Old Girl

A 45-year-old man has been arrested in Free State on allegations of raping a 14-year-old girl from a family he was familiar with. The charges stem from events that reportedly occurred over several months, leading to severe consequences for the minor.

Details of the Incident And Arrest

The victim’s mother, upon returning home on December 27, 2024, noticed her daughter was distressed. The girl was subsequently taken to the hospital, where it was confirmed that she was pregnant.

The police, led by South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Sergeant Sinah Mpakane, disclosed that the young girl revealed she had been raped by the accused in both June and September of 2024.

The accused appeared before the Selosesha Magistrate’s Court, facing serious charges of rape. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear again on January 10 for bail information.

This incident is part of a worrying trend, as shown by another recent case where Bokang Matsukunyane was sentenced to 22 years for raping a mentally challenged 17-year-old girl. These cases call for heightened awareness and immediate intervention to safeguard children from sexual predators within their communities.
