National Coloured Congress (NCC) leader and Member of Parliament Fadiel Adams has been suspended from Parliament for 20 days, a move that will temporarily prevent him from participating in the Section 89 Impeachment Committee.
Committee Secretary Thembinkosi Ngoma informed members of the development during proceedings, confirming that Adams' suspension took effect on 3 August. However, no reasons for the disciplinary action were disclosed to the committee.
Fadiel Adams Suspended From Parliament For 20 Days
Ngoma told committee members that Adams had been suspended under the Powers, Privileges and Immunities of Parliament and Provincial Legislatures Act. As a result, he will not take part in committee proceedings until the suspension expires.
"The NCC member has been suspended for 20 days, with effect from the 3rd of August. So, he is not on the platform, and he will only be joining the committee once the suspension is lifted," Ngoma said.
