Facebook Marketplace Buyer Robbed And Shot In The Head After Being Lured By Fake Seller

It is alleged that on Saturday, 24th February, 2024, a disturbing incident occurred involving a victim who responded to an advertisement on Facebook Marketplace.
The victim had expressed interest in purchasing a Bobcat Caterpillar and was provided with a pin drop location. However, upon arrival, the situation quickly escalated.
The victim contacted the seller as instructed, only to be informed that someone would come and fetch them.
To their dismay, a group of approximately 10 suspects arrived at the scene, brandishing firearms and demanding cash. When the victims explained that they did not have any cash on them, a heated argument ensued, resulting in one of the suspects shooting the complainant in the head.
Both victims were then forcibly taken into the nearby bush, where they were subjected to a search and robbed of their belongings, including cellphones. The suspects also seized their bank cards and demanded the pin codes.
The victims were held captive for approximately six hours before one of the suspects instructed a witness to transport the injured victim to the hospital. However, due to unfamiliarity with the area, the witness was unable to locate a nearby hospital and ultimately decided to drive to Bronkhorstspruit hospital.
The victim was eventually released from the hospital on Sunday, 2024-02-25. In light of this shocking incident, Colonel Dhladhla wishes to caution community members, particularly those residing in the areas of Loate and Winterveld, against seeking bargains on social media platforms.
These incidents serve as a stark reminder of the potential dangers associated with online transactions.
