Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Marlboro, north of Johannesburg, that claimed the lives of two people on Thursday.
One of the deceased is believed to be a senior member of the Alexandra, Randburg, Midrand Taxi Association (ARMTA). Authorities are working to establish the full circumstances behind the attack, which has shaken the local community.
A witness told reporters they observed a high-speed pursuit moments before the shooting unfolded. The bystander, who works at a nearby car wash at the intersection of Viola Road and 4th and 8th Streets, described the event as chaotic and violent.

“I saw many cars chasing the one Audi vehicle and then they started shooting from all sides, and then they drove off and then the Audi crashed into the truck,” the eyewitness said.
Police later cordoned off the area, where another vehicle—belonging to a private security company—was being processed as part of the investigation. Authorities confirmed that one of the victims was still inside the car at the time.
