Evander Torture Facility Exposed In Mpumalanga — Teens Rescued, 2 Arrested
A horrifying case of alleged torture and unlawful detention has come to light after a teenage boy escaped from a suspected torture facility in Evander, near Secunda.
Police have arrested two men, aged 24 and 29, in connection with the crime, and more arrests may follow as investigations deepen.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, the victim managed to flee the facility and report his traumatic ordeal to authorities on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
He said he had been kidnapped from his home on March 27 and subjected to shocking abuse over a period of nearly two weeks.
Victims Forced Into Mud, Beaten With Sjambok
The teen revealed that he was forced to swim in a muddy dam, had his head smeared with mud, and endured brutal beatings with a sjambok and a metal pick pipe.

He also described dire living conditions, with limited access to food and hygiene during his captivity.
Police confirmed that multiple teenagers were held at the site and suffered similar abuse.
Two male suspects were apprehended on April 9, and are scheduled to appear before the Evander Magistrate’s Court on Friday, April 11, 2025.

Parents Allegedly Involved In Sending Teens To The Facility
In a disturbing twist, police said there is credible evidence suggesting that some of the victims were brought to the facility by their own parents, who believed it was a form of discipline.
These allegations are being treated with the utmost seriousness.
Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi, Acting Provincial Police Commissioner in Mpumalanga, condemned the incidents as “inhumane and criminal,” promising a full investigation to uncover the truth and ensure that all perpetrators and accomplices face justice.
