Ethiopian National Arrested For Rape Of 6-Year-Old Girl

A 26-year-old Ethiopian man has been arrested and is expected to appear in the Hendrina Magistrate’s Court.
The suspect, an Ethiopian national is to appear before the court, today Monday, 7 April, 2025, on charges of raping a 6-year-old girl in Arnot, near Hendrina, in Mpumalanga.

The incident occurred on April 3, 2025, when the young girl was sent to buy items from a local tuck shop around 6 pm.
Swift Action by Police and FCS Unit
The case was reported to the police and investigated by members of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit.

The Ethiopian suspect was traced and apprehended on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
Mpumalanga Acting Police Commissioner, Maj-Gen Zeph Mkhwanazi, condemned the heinous act by the Ethiopian suspect and commended the FCS Unit members for their diligent work in arresting the suspect.
Justice For Victim
Mkhwanazi reiterated the South African Police Service’s commitment to protecting vulnerable groups, especially children.

“We will spare no effort to ensure justice is served for the victim in this case.
“Our investigators, are working closely with the prosecution, to see that the suspect faces the full consequences of his alleged actions,” he said.
