Ermelo Woman Arrested After Brutally Killing And Dismembering Boyfriend, Family In Shock

The community of Wesselton in Ermelo, Mpumalanga, has been left horrified after 37-year-old Sibusiso Maseko was brutally murdered and dismembered by his girlfriend on Sunday, 10 August. Police confirmed that the 33-year-old woman allegedly stabbed Maseko to death following a heated argument after he returned home from a night out with friends.
According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdluli, officers made a shocking discovery after receiving a tip-off on Monday, 11 August.
“The police received a report on Monday night and sent officers to the scene, where they discovered some dismembered body parts inside a plastic bag while other body parts were found inside a maize meal bag,” Mdluli said.

Ermelo Family Shattered by ‘Unthinkable’ Crime
The victim’s family expressed their devastation, describing the crime as beyond comprehension. His relative, Bathulile Mbatha, spoke with anger and disbelief.
“Since she chopped him, she must cook and eat him,” Bathulile said. “When I spoke to her over the phone, she sounded like a good person. We didn’t know she was capable of such. We are still in disbelief, especially after we saw his body scattered inside and outside the house where they lived.”
Bathulile described Maseko as a peaceful person who had recently overcome drug addiction and was trying to rebuild his life.
“No amount of sentence can bring closure for us. She should be fed his body parts from the holding cell. She should eat him, since she cooked some of the remains. With our law being lenient, we doubt she will be handed the sentence she deserves,” she added.
Maseko’s father, Vusi Mbatha, said the tragedy has left him sleepless.
“She was smoking, drinking, and an argumentative person. I’m not that shocked that she was capable of doing such because of her behaviour,” he said.

Suspect in Custody, Case Postponed
Police confirmed that the 33-year-old suspect has been formally charged with murder and defeating the ends of justice. She appeared briefly at the Ermelo Magistrates Court on Thursday, 14 August.
Her case has been postponed to 20 August while investigations continue.
