In what can only be described as a heart-wrenching revelation, Zakes Bantwini recently took to social media to mourn the passing of his close friend and bass guitarist, Lindani Mngoma.
Known affectionately as Batista, Mngoma had been more than just a bassist; he was a brother to Zakes and an integral part of his musical journey.

Batista was not merely a team member; he was a cornerstone of Zakes Bantwini’s Mayonie Productions, serving as a tour manager for over a decade. Hailing from KwaMashu in Durban, Batista, 47, had crafted a niche for himself in the local and international music scene.
His ability to blend seamlessly into various roles made him indispensable. As Zakes puts it, losing Batista feels like losing a piece of himself.
Zakes Bantwini is currently on tour in the UK, but his heart is far from the stage lights and music. The artist shared several touching images on social media, showcasing his close relationship with Batista. In the caption, his anguish was palpable.
