Friends, family, and colleagues of veteran actress Connie Chiume gathered at the Oasis of Life Family Church in Daveyton on Thursday to pay their final respects.
The star, known for her impactful roles and magnetic presence, passed away last Tuesday after a short illness. Her departure has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of many who had the privilege of knowing and working with her.

Among the mourners was Katlego Danke, who shared a special bond with Connie. Katlego, known for her role as the stubborn Thathi on Gomora, had the honour of speaking at the service. She recounted their first meeting during the Gomora auditions.
Katlego described being “surprised by the power that exuded from this wise humble woman,” emphasizing Connie’s heart and dedication to her role as Mam Sonto.
Connie’s passion extended beyond her professional life into her personal one. Katlego highlighted how Connie wasn’t just passionate about acting but also about being a mother to her children and a nurturing figure on set.
“You made every single one of us on set feel loved, seen, and respected – no matter the age, no matter the level of experience, no matter the role on set.” These words resonated deeply with all those who had shared the workspace with Connie.
