Ah, South Africa never fails to deliver on drama! Recently, Ama Qamata, our beloved actress from ‘Blood and Water,’ found herself tangled in a Twitter frenzy.
See, it all started when Ama decided to defend former Miss SA contestant, Chidimma Adetshina. Little did she know, the Twitterverse had receipts!
It all started innocently enough. Ama Qamata took to Twitter to voice her thoughts on the ongoing saga involving Chidimma Adetshina. Chidimma’s mother was accused of fraud and identity theft, a story that has polarized the public.
Ama weighed in, stating, “It is so unfortunate that Chidimma is a scapegoat to a much bigger issue in SA. If anything, this exposed the level of corruption taking place in government.” Sounds straightforward, right?
Well, not so fast. Social media trolls quickly reminded Ama of her own backyard. Social media thrives on drama, but Ama’s supporters were not ready for the clapback she received. One spicy tweet read, “Not you, Ama, talking about corruption when your ‘entrepreneurial’ mom has drained the Eastern Cape Government dry. Not you, sit this one out.”
Ouch, right? The social media trolls didn’t hold back, bringing in her mom’s alleged murky business dealings.
Not to be left in the shadows, Ama posted a screenshot of her mom’s denial: “I have never done business with the government all my life,” Piliswa Qamata-Schouten claimed.
A bold statement indeed, but one that Twitter detectives were quick to challenge. They unearthed tenders reportedly linked to Qamata Trading, a company tied to a certain Tembekile Qamata. Talk about a digital sleuth team!
