Skeem Saam has alerted viewers about misleading rumours about the death of actress Lydia Mokgokoloshi.
This comes after a local publication announced that the iconic South African actress has died, shocking fans of the local drama series.

But, Skeem Saam quickly requested that the article be removed because it was false.
Mokgokoloshi, who plays Koko Mantsa, is still alive and well.
Although the actress, affectionately known as the “National Gogo” by South African audiences, is no longer with the soapie, Skeem Saam said it was regrettable that the newspaper posted the fake story to gain clout.
Lydia Mokgokoloshi has been a part of the SABC 1 soapie since its start in 2011.

This isn’t the first time fake news of the actress’ death has circulated, with another report announcing Mokgokoloshi’s death being published in 2021.
The 83-year-old actress is said to be alive and well.
