Showmax’s hit series, Adulting, is returning for a highly anticipated second season. After receiving mixed reviews for its raunchy sex scenes during its first season, the show is ready to push boundaries once again.
The channel recently announced the start of production, and fans couldn’t be more excited. Not only is the show coming back, but all four lead cast members will be returning as well.
Thembinkosi Mthembu, known for his roles in Outlaws, Shaka iLembe, and The River, will be reprising his role as Bonga. Nhlanhla Kunene, who has appeared in The River and Lavish, will be back as Eric.
Thabo Rammusi, famous for his performance in The Suit, will return as Mpho, and Luthando BU Mthembu, winner of the Best Dressed On Screen Personality Award at the GQ Best Dressed 2023 Awards, will be back as Vuyani. Additionally, breakout star Londeka Shishi will reprise her role as Nkanyezi.
While details of the new season are being kept under wraps, the creators of the show, Phathu Makwarela and Gwydion Beynon, gave fans a little teaser of what to expect. According to Makwarela, Adulting will remain a fun show about good times and brotherhood, with lots of heart.
It will continue to explore the migrant experience in Johannesburg, where friends become family. Beynon added that the second season will continue to raise eyebrows with its shocking portrayals of South African men’s lives.
The first season of Adulting followed the lives of four friends who remained close despite their diverging paths after university. As they navigated love and success in Johannesburg, they relied on each other for support. The show resonated with audiences and quickly became a fan favourite.
