
Fans of the IsiXhosa series Gqeberha The Empire will be disappointed to find out that the show might be coming to an end, just after season 1.
According to reports, the TV drama was discontinued due to poor pay and ill-treatment of the actors.

An insider said they were relocated to Port Elizabeth but lived in squalor.
It has also been revealed that actors are underpaid and have been on set.
The TV show succeeded The Queen, although it was reported last year that it was experiencing financial difficulties.
“Qheberha The Empire, which will replace The Queen, is rumoured to be embroiled in financial drama. Actors’ pay delayed. Sources inform me the show is budgeted at R86-million, and partly funded by Eastern Cape govt.,” Phil revealed in 2022.
