Our popular TV soapies are reshuffling their cabinet and we’re here for it! Do you remember Mike Mvelase who used to play the role of Khaphela Ngcobo on Generations?
At first, he was a faithful worker for Tau Mogale and then he made it big and became a part-owner of one of the big residential apartments, Isiqhalo courts. Well, the star had a fall out with the directors of the soapie in 2014 when he came out to blast them for introducing the roles of Senzo and Jason who were gays.
According to a report that was written by Daily Sun in 2013, the actor criticised the Generations storyline calling it immoral. “The writers of Generations are sending out the wrong message. What lessons are they teaching our kids with the role of Senzo and Jason?” Mvelase said.
The unwelcomed criticism saw his future with the soapie being cut short, in 2014 when Mfundi Mvundla went on a firing spree. Well like raindrops Mvelase got acting gigs on some soapies, you’d remember we saw him on 7de Laan where he stared the role of businessman Loyiso.
Then again Mvelase braced our TV screens when he joined Isibaya where he played the role of Sibulukhulu, Phumelele’s uncle. We happy to say that he has as a matter of fact started shooting for his new role on Uzalo where he will be staring as one of the godfathers of the new criminal organizations in KwaMashu called Umbutho.
Wow, Mvelase and gangsterism, that will be the first… his previous role required him to be an honest and harmless person… Hmmm, we hope he will ACE this one.
Wait, before you go we have more good news for you, Mvelase won’t be the only one joining Uzalo but the likes of Sjava and Zulu Boy will also be joining the cast as well.
SPOTTED: Mike Mvelase
