South Africans seem to have a tough time forgiving and forgetting, and it seems this time Pearl Thusi is in the hot seat. The actress-turned-DJ, recently attempted to speak Sesotho in a light-hearted video with her friends.
In the clip, Pearl mumbles a few words in what sounds like Sesotho, causing her friends to burst into laughter. But not everyone was amused.

The backlash was fierce, with social media users quick to voice their disappointment. A lot of the criticism centered around Pearl’s perceived lack of knowledge of South African languages. Some even speculated she might be more fluent in West African languages.
For example, one user, inenekazi1, cheekily commented, “Ask her to speak Nigerian, and she’d be fluent.” Another user, i_know_ball4k, expressed disappointment: “Chasing 40 but can’t speak one word in Sotho?”
The comments kept rolling in, with netizens throwing major shade. Natty3_lfc asked rhetorically, “Can’t she keep quiet?”
What really seemed to ignite the spark was her previous support for Chidimma Adetshina. People criticized her for lacking patriotism. R_mashesha32 didn’t hold back, saying, “Sies. but she can speak jollof in tongues.”
