After a long wait, musician Zakes Bantwini has finally saved his fans from the “embarrassment” of mumbling through his latest hit track Osama by creating a lyrics music video.
Zakes’ live performance at Kunye went viral last week, Osama caused quite a stir on the internet. The song trended on Twitter for several days, and people applauded the musician for creating what some dubbed the “anthem of the year.”

In the video, Zakes explains that the word Osama means “lion,” and that the song uses the word in the context of what a lion represents for most Africans. “In Africa, lions symbolise protection, wisdom and power.”
Zakes also addressed the issue of translation, stating that the lyrics are not in any particular language, but rather can be explained as glossolalia, also known as “speaking in tongues.”
