After weeks of speculation, musician Sjava has confirmed that he’s no longer part of the Ambitiouz recording label family.
On Tuesday afternoon the musician took to Twitter and posted a statement announcing that he’s no longer with the label he released three albums with and won several awards under.
“I will forever be grateful for everything that they have done by giving me an opportunity and platform when no one did nanokuthi through them ngikwazile nokwakhela umama umuzi ekhayz.” Read the statement.
Sjava further elaborated that he has no problem with anyone and he has always chosen who be the bigger person as he’s not a person who likes beefing with anyone.
Earlier this month a report by The Sowetan stated that the musician was “extremely unhappy” with Ambitiouz records and Is looking for a way out. At the same time, the label owner Kgosi Mahumapelo at said that Sjava is still signed with the label and will be signed for years due to a very airtight contract he signed.
“An artist or label cannot opt to renew a contract that is still active and will be for a few years to come. All three contracts are active and Ambitiouz have not requested the artist to renew any.”
Sjava in his statement also revealed that he took a break away from the spotlight so that he can deal with the whole process with respect and dignity, as he has learnt to be professional and to not take things personal when it comes to business.
“The reason for partying ways iyaziwa yimina and the label for now and I hope that this process of parting will be done in a way that reflects mutual respect. This is my hope,” said Sjava.
Sjava also pleaded with his fans to continues to love respect what he does and they have been loyal to him all this time. He further asked fans not to attack his former label or anyone else no matter what is said about him.
Sjava leaving the family means that the whole African Trap Movement (ATM) which consisted of Emtee, Sjava and Saudi have left Ambitiouz.
