Despite facing various challenges, Mia has shown the world that resilience and determination know no bounds.
Born and raised in Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo, Mia’s journey has been anything but ordinary. At the tender age of two, she received a cochlear implant.
Her mother, Liesel Le Roux, recalls moments of uncertainty, questioning how Mia would navigate a world where hearing and communication are paramount. Yet, Mia tackled every obstacle with an inspiring tenacity.
Before she gained national recognition, Mia worked as a marketing manager in Cape Town. Her work ethic and creative spark were evident in her professional career.

Liesel Le Roux shares, “We all thought, what is going to happen now? How is this child going to cope in a community where you have to talk and hear and work? Mia showed us what you can do if you really want to and if you are resilient.
