Manaka Ranaka recently took to her social media to express her concerns about South African women marrying foreign nationals.
Speaking in Zulu, she didn’t mince her words: “There’s something we need to discuss, our South African sisters are selling off the country. I just want to know why y’all are shamelessly selling off the country?”
Ranaka shared a story of a woman who was promised R1000 to marry a foreign national but ended up receiving just R70.
Even if she had gotten the full amount, Manaka still deemed it unacceptable. “Y’all are cheap, y’all are cheap and y’all are putting us in trouble. Meanwhile, you are the ones who complain the most about Chichi,” she exclaimed.
Chichi, more formally known as Chidimma Adetshina, has been a topic of conversation in South Africa recently due to questions about her nationality and her background.
Chidimma Adetshina, a former Miss SA contestant, sparked widespread curiosity when doubts about her nationality emerged. She has a Nigerian father and an alleged Mozambican mother, which attracted attention and discussion.
The Department of Home Affairs eventually probed her matter and discovered that her mom obtained her identity fraudulently. Over recent weeks, Chidimma has become a hot topic even after she had withdrawn from the competition.
Perhaps adding fuel to Manaka’s fire are several well-known South African celebrities who are in relationships with foreign nationals. Khanyi Mbau has a Zimbabwean partner, Simz Ngema is with Tino Chinyane, and Boity Thulo once dated a Nigerian man.

Bonang Matheba and Thando Thabethe have also been linked to Nigerian partners. Actress Phindile Gwala is married to a man from Congo. Ranaka’s message is clear: she believes these relationships aren’t in the country’s best interest, calling these women desperate and, bluntly, cheap.
In closing her fiery monologue, Manaka didn’t hold back on her critique. She stressed the importance of not being desperate and fixing the country from within. To the ladies marrying foreign nationals, she had a simple message, “Hope y’all got it.” And indeed, it seems hard to miss.
