South African singer/songwriter Lira recently marked her 45th birthday in an unforgettable way. Despite facing a challenging journey to recovery after suffering a stroke over a year ago, Lira surprised her loved ones with a mini-concert during an intimate dinner celebration.
Speaking about the special moment, Lira expressed her gratitude to her friends and family for their unwavering support throughout her difficult journey.
She shared, “I celebrated my birthday with an intimate party, and I surprised them with a mini-concert! It was a truly magical experience to perform for them again. I sang in both English and vernacular, and I absolutely nailed it!”
Reflecting on her progress and the obstacles she has overcome, Lira couldn’t help but shed tears of joy. She said, “I’ve come such a long way, and I’m incredibly proud of myself.”
For fans eagerly awaiting Lira’s comeback, there’s good news on the horizon. In 2022, Lira will be performing live with a full band for the first time since her stroke. The highly anticipated performance will take place at Constitution Hill in Johannesburg on May 25th.
Expressing her excitement, Lira said, “This is a milestone for me, and I’m absolutely thrilled. My recovery has been nothing short of a miracle. At first, it felt impossible even to speak, but every day I made progress. And now, here we are!”
