When life hands you lemons, sometimes those lemons come with a slice of the internet’s nastiest trolls. South African media personality Lerato Kganyago knows this firsthand.
Recently, she took to social media to call out those who had the audacity to mock her struggles with childbearing. And boy, did she not hold back!
Lerato has always been transparent about her harrowing experiences with miscarriages—five to be exact, with the latest painful loss occurring in February of this year.
It was in February that Lerato posted a series of emotionally charged stories on Instagram, sharing her grief.
Her post featured a picture of her sonogram accompanied by a heartfelt message, citing February as a cruel month for her: “Pardon my silence, this was the most happiest but became painful part of this month of love.” Just to drive the nail home (or perhaps vent her anguish), her final story ended with “Dear Feb, you’ve hurt me.”

As if the universe hadn’t already thrown enough her way, Lerato was recently dragged online for supporting Miss South Africa finalist, Chidimma Adetshina. While Chidimma is a South African citizen, her Nigerian background led to controversy and xenophobic remarks. Lerato stood by Chidimma firmly, but this support only prompted more online bullying, using her childbearing struggles as ammunition.
Trolls might have thought they’d silenced Lerato, but they severely underestimated her. In a power move, she posted a video dismantling the cruel and heartless remarks she received. Her forte?
Reading out the usernames and their nasty comments. The biggest kicker? Most of these vile voices belonged to fellow women. Let’s just say, Lerato not only read them for filth but did so with the poise of someone who’s been there, done that, and got the (presumably designer) t-shirt.
