It’s hard to believe, but yesterday marked 20 years since Leanne Manas made her debut as the host of Morning Live. From her first co-hosting days with the late Vuyo Mbuli to facing all the highs and lows of broadcasting, Leanne has certainly made her mark.
Leanne’s journey began alongside Vuyo Mbuli, who had been with the program since its inception on November 1, 1999.
The pair formed a memorable team until Vuyo’s untimely passing in 2013. Their chemistry and dedication set the tone for Leanne’s enduring presence on South African morning television.
Every public figure faces criticism, and Leanne is no exception. She has had her share of public feuds, especially with Ntsiki Mazwai, who criticized her on several occasions.
In September 2018, Ntsiki accused Leanne of mediocrity and benefiting from white privilege. The criticism resurfaced in 2019 when Leanne celebrated 15 years of her career on Morning Live.
