Rapper L-Tido and DJ Maphorisa have had a very public feud that garnered a lot of attention on social media.
It all started when L-Tido interviewed Amapiano vocalist Sir Trill, who criticized a ‘grootman’—a clear jab at DJ Maphorisa—accusing him of gatekeeping. Instead of addressing Sir Trill’s comments, Maphorisa took a petty route and disrespected L-Tido’s mother.
As any loving son would, L-Tido did not take lightly to the jibes aimed at his mother. In his latest podcast episode, he decided to dissect DJ Maphorisa’s character. “Let’s call him by his government name, Sonny Boy,” L-Tido quipped.
He went on to label Maphorisa as a coward, highlighting his tendency to offend women rather than standing up to men. “The way you’ve been carrying on, you are a cancer to this industry,” L-Tido added sharply.

Despite the deep-seated animosity, L-Tido revealed on his podcast that he has accepted DJ Maphorisa’s apology. The rapper did, however, indicate his reservations by saying that he hopes Maphorisa’s apology is genuine and not just for show.

Interestingly, actress Buhle Samuels served as the mediator in resolving this beef. According to her, she called Maphorisa and managed to impart some sense into him.
L-Tido made it clear that he was willing to be eternal enemies with DJ Maphorisa because of the mother’s insult. But for the sake of peace—perhaps also influenced by Buhle Samuels’ efforts—he chose to accept the apology.
It seems the two have finally buried the hatchet. L-Tido’s witty commentary on DJ Maphorisa has added a new layer to their relationship, a mix of skepticism and cautious optimism.
