It seems like Kelly Khumalo just can’t accept defeat! The local musician recently found herself losing her mind and suffering from severe chest pains after not receiving a single award at the South African Music Awards (SAMA) held on Saturday night. And boy, did she let her feelings be known!
The SAMA ceremony, which took place at the Sun Arena in Pitioli, was broadcast live on SABC 1. Kelly, known for her sweet voice, was nominated for Best Female Artist, but unfortunately, she lost out to fellow singer Ntokozo Mbambo. Cue the outrage!

As expected, social media was ablaze with mixed reactions to Kelly’s loss. Some people couldn’t help but revel in her failure, possibly due to her association with the infamous case of her child’s father, the late Senzo Meyiwa. On the other hand, there were those who genuinely believed that Mbambo deserved the award.
Kelly, known for her candidness, took to the streets of Twitter to express her displeasure at the loss. She questioned whether there was something she needed to say or if there were people who were simply more interested in her. It’s clear that she’s not one to shy away from speaking her mind!
While Kelly’s fans were quick to rally behind her, others on social media failed to sympathize with her disappointment. They were quick to point out that she shouldn’t compare herself to the calm and talented Ntokozo Mbambo, suggesting that she take a leaf out of Mbambo’s book.
