South Africans love a bit of drama, don’t we? It seems like every time you turn around, there’s another celebrity stepping into the fire. This time, it’s none other than Tyla who’s adding her two cents to the already boiling pot of controversy surrounding the former Miss South Africa finalist, Chidimma Adetshina.
Chidimma Adetshina has had tongues wagging across Mzansi ever since questions about her nationality surfaced. Some believe she’s not genuinely South African, which was later proven by the Department of Home Affairs.
South African celebrities from Prince Kaybee to Lerato Kganyago have found themselves caught in the crossfire, and now, the latest to be roasted on this communal stove is none other than Tyla.
In a recent post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Tyla couldn’t keep quiet any longer. She claimed that while she loves South Africa, she doesn’t stand for the way we’ve treated Chidimma. This didn’t sit well with many locals, who were quick to roast her for her remarks.
“Disappointed that this happened to her, but wish you all the best girl
Kill it!!!! ♥️♥️
“I will always stand with South Africa, i just feel regardless of the opinions… She was bullied and that’s what I don’t stand for,” Tyla wrote as she reposted a post on Chidimma.
Online users had a field day criticizing Tyla. @_lolo_pat snidely commented, “She’s going to be cooked. I see she didn’t learn from Pearl, Sbu, and LKG.” Others were equally harsh, with @allen88yuri saying, “Tyla supports nonsense,” and @tsele_mk remarking that sometimes it’s better to keep quiet.
She wasn’t bullied.

However, not everyone was against her. Some defended her stance, pointing out that Tyla herself has faced bullying based on her identity. @btzenith argued, “Americans also abused her based on her identity. I understand this.”
As South Africa grapples with issues of national identity and fairness, the Chidimma Adetshina saga has shown that public opinion can be as divided as ever. Whether you’re team Chidimma or not, it’s a conversation that’s bound to continue. As for Tyla, she’s had her say, but whether Mzansi will let it slide is another story altogether.
