The news first broke on Miss Universe Nigeria’s official social media accounts. The pageant owner, Guy James Murray-Bruce, personally invited Chidimma Adetshina to participate in their competition, which is now running its second year and has announced its top 24 candidates.
Her Nigerian heritage made her eligible for this swift entry into the finals. A statement from the pageant read, ‘We at Miss Universe Nigeria have been closely following the developments regarding your decision to bow out of the Miss South Africa beauty pageant. We acknowledge the circumstances surrounding your withdrawal and understand the challenges you may be facing.’
