In a move that’s left many scratching their heads, Shauwn “Mamkhize” Mkhize has openly admitted to working with the infamous “construction mafia.”
These guys are notorious for using rough-and-tumble methods to squeeze money out of businesses, mainly through intimidation and violence. They use violence to extort money from businesses in the public works sector.

Just when we thought things couldn’t get more dramatic after her name was linked to an assassination attempt on a SARS advocate investigating a whopping R37 million scam, Mamkhize drops another bombshell.
Speaking at a Women in Construction event in Durban, the CEO of the Zikhulise Group said, “As much as there are construction mafias, it is very important to collaborate.”
Sure, Mamkhize, let’s all play nice with the bullies, shall we? Excuse our scepticism, but collaborating with crooks sounds like a recipe for disaster! Mamkhize seems to justify her actions by explaining that she’s been in the game for over 20 years and has found a way to “collaborate” with these mafiosos.
“I’ve done it. I’ve built quite a lot of people that are coming from construction mafias, which I call business forums,” she added. Well, isn’t that just heartwarming?

On the flip side, KZN Human Settlements MEC Siboniso Duma has stated that the government is in talks with these so-called “business forums” to address the issue. However, he’s quick to point out that, “We are clear on extortion because we define that as criminal activity… those that come with rifles, police must take their roles.”
So there you have it, folks! In Mamkhize’s world, it’s all about “collaborate or die trying!” One wonders what she’ll admit to next. Stay tuned for more spicy updates!
