Emtee’s Court Drama Drags On As Rapper Waits For October Showdown

South African rapper Mthembeni “Emtee” Ndevu will have to wait a little longer to find out what happens next in his ongoing legal battle involving his estranged wife, Nicole Chinsamy. Emtee was back at the Midrand Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, but instead of getting a decisive outcome, the case was pushed into October.

The matter, which centres on an alleged breach of a protection order involving Chinsamy, has already seen the rapper spend time behind bars before being released on bail. His next court date has now been set for 2 October, when his legal team is expected to make representations on why he should not be prosecuted.

For Emtee, this means another few weeks of uncertainty. And with the State reportedly refusing to simply walk away from the matter, the rapper’s courtroom saga is showing no signs of wrapping up just yet.

Emtee’s Protection-Order Case Takes Another Turn

Emtee’s protection-order case has taken an interesting turn after Chinsamy previously indicated that she wanted to withdraw her complaint. According to Daily Sun, however, the State has declined to withdraw the charges because of the nature of the allegations.

The defence has now been given additional time to make representations to the prosecution. Emtee’s lawyer, Advocate Kwena Manamela, was reportedly not in court during Tuesday’s proceedings.

The development comes after a particularly turbulent few weeks for the “Roll Up” hitmaker. His bail was revoked in August after he was accused of breaching conditions that barred him from contacting Chinsamy, before he was later granted bail again under stricter conditions.

Emtee Remains On R2,000 Bail As October Date Looms

Emtee remains out on R2,000 bail while the case continues through the courts. One of the conditions attached to his release is that he must not contact Chinsamy, except where communication relates to their children.

The rapper previously spent 16 days in custody before being released on bail earlier this month. His bail was extended during his 10 September 2026 appearance, with the defence given until 15 September to submit representations.

Now, all eyes are on 2 October. That appearance is expected to shed more light on whether the State will proceed with the charges against the award-winning rapper or whether the latest representations could change the direction of the case.

Until then, Emtee remains out on bail and the legal process continues. Importantly, the allegations against him remain allegations and have not been tested in court.
