Elderly Man Sentenced To 25 Years for Premeditated Murder Of Wife, Stepdaughter

In a devastating case of domestic violence, the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria has sentenced 63-year-old Paul Philipps Prinsloo to 25 years in prison.
Prinsloo was sentenced for the premeditated murder of his 58-year-old wife, Magdalenne Prinsloo, and 34-year-old stepdaughter, Ruzanna Prinsloo.

The brutal incident occurred in November 2023, following an argument between Prinsloo, his wife, and stepdaughter at their home in Kosmo village, Hartbeespoort.
A Fit Of Rage Turns Deadly
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Prinsloo retrieved a firearm from his room and shot his stepdaughter before turning the gun on his wife.

A friend who witnessed the incident took the couple’s six-year-old granddaughter to safety and called the police, leading to Prinsloo’s arrest.
Life Sentence
Judge Mashudu Munzhelele considered Prinsloo’s age and ill-health as mitigating factors, deviating from the prescribed minimum sentence of life imprisonment.
