Elderly Couple Tied Up, Murdered In Ga-Kuranta

An elderly couple, aged 80 and 83, were found tied up and dead in their home in Ga-Kuranta village, Limpopo.

The authorities were alerted to the murder scene around 8 p.m., and upon arrival, provincial police officers discovered the lifeless bodies of the victims in separate rooms of their home.

Both individuals had been tied with ropes, with the rope connected to the roof, raising suspicions of a deliberate and gruesome double murder.

Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the provincial police spokesperson, confirmed the discovery.

Mashaba said, “The 83-year-old male was found tied with a rope around his neck while seated on the floor, and the 80-year-old female was also found in a separate room, lying on her back with a rope tied to her neck.”

The police observed no visible injuries to either of the deceased.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were called to the scene, but both victims were declared dead upon arrival.

Two Cellphones Stolen During The Incident

The deceased were identified as Maphetola Selaelo Rasodi (83) and Malekutu Alfred Mokhupi (80).

According to Mashaba, two cellphones belonging to the victims were stolen during the incident.

It is unclear whether the theft of the phones was part of a larger robbery, or whether it was an added detail in the execution of the murders.

The Mokwakwaila police station within the Mopani district in charge of the investigation and have disclosed it’s ongoing.

Mashaba confirmed that while the motive for the killings remains unknown, the investigation will focus on the possibility of a house robbery that turned violent.

Investigation Underway, Motive Remains Unknown

At present, the police have not revealed any suspects or further details regarding the motive behind the murders.

Although, the Investigators are exploring several angles, but it remains unclear whether the killings were a targeted attack or part of a broader crime spree in the area.
