EFF Slams Elon Musk Over Malema ‘ Sanctions And International Criminal’ Remarks

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has hit back at South African-born billionaire Elon Musk after he called for party leader Julius Malema to be declared an international criminal and sanctioned.

Musk’s comments came in response to an old video clip of Malema stating, “These people, when you want to hit them hard, go after a white man. They feel terrible pain because you have touched a white man. We’re cutting the throat of whiteness.”

Sharing the video on social media, Musk demanded Malema’s immediate sanctioning and international criminal status.

Malema: “You Are a Spoiled Brat”

Responding to Musk, Malema dismissed the remarks, calling the billionaire a “typical spoiled brat and direct beneficiary of apartheid whiteness.”

He added that he would not stop advocating for black equality, regardless of Musk’s criticisms.

EFF spokesperson Sinawo Thambo did not mince words in responding to Musk, saying the party would not back down from its principles.

“The EFF takes this opportunity to tell Musk and all his allies, and the right-wing groups in SA which have mobilised Musk, to collectively go to hell,” said Thambo.

She argued that Musk’s criticism of Malema was part of a broader capitalist agenda, calling him an imperialist seeking to undermine South Africa’s economic and political sovereignty.

“The offence Musk has made against the leader of the EFF constitutes a meddling in our domestic affairs which we do not take lightly,” she stated.

Starlink, Land Reform, and Growing US-SA Tensions

Tensions between South Africa and the US have intensified in recent weeks, particularly over the Expropriation Act, which allows land seizures without compensation.

The EFF has also opposed Musk’s Starlink satellite internet service operating in South Africa unless it complies with local ownership laws, requiring at least 30% black ownership.

“The principle remains that equality in SA is rooted in the return of the land to African people, and this will be achieved through expropriation without compensation,” the EFF reiterated.

The party further accused Musk of “capturing the US presidency” and using his influence to push his business interests globally.

“His nefarious influence must be opposed and undermined by all nations which respect their sovereignty and seek to maintain independence,” the statement concluded.

With tensions escalating, Musk’s comments have added fuel to an already volatile political landscape in South Africa.
