Eastern Cape Man Arrested After Children Find Girlfriend’s Body In Suitcase

Police in the Eastern Cape have arrested a man in connection with the murder of a woman whose body was discovered inside a suitcase in a pond near a dumping site in Aliwal North.
The grim find was made on Sunday in a pond located in an open field close to a dumping site by a young boy and his friends.
Police confirmed that the children alerted authorities after noticing the suspicious suitcase, which led to officers responding to the scene and launching an urgent investigation.
Boyfriend arrested within 24 hours of investigation
Eastern Cape police moved quickly after the discovery and arrested a suspect within a day of the incident.
The man taken into custody is the boyfriend of the deceased and is expected to appear before the Aliwal North Magistrate’s Court soon, where he will face a charge of murder.
Authorities said investigators worked rapidly to trace the events leading to the woman’s death.
